Job Reference: HRBP0506

Role Title: HR Business Partner

Reporting Line: HR Operations Manager

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a commercial and strategic HR Business Partner to collaborate with key stakeholders, strengthening people management and driving organizational performance. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role provides expert coaching, strategic insight, and guidance to build leadership capability, ensure full legal compliance, and foster an inclusive workplace culture.

The successful candidate will lead across core HR disciplines, including complex employee relations, organizational change, recruitment, and people analytics, while proactively managing relationships with trade unions and employee representative bodies to support a stable industrial relations environment. Additionally, this role will manage and develop a small team of HR and Recruitment Administrators to ensure operational excellence and high-quality service delivery.

Key Candidate Requirements:

  • Act as a credible, trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing expert coaching on leadership capability, people management, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Manage and oversee complex employee relations cases, delivering fair, consistent, and best-practice outcomes while mitigating business risk.

  • Engage proactively with trade unions and employee representative groups to maintain constructive working relationships and support effective consultation processes.

  • Lead and support people-related business change initiatives, including restructures, reorganizations, and TUPE transfers.

  • Oversee the end-to-end recruitment function and onboarding processes, partnering with hiring managers to define workforce plans and drive attraction strategies.

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of three HR and Recruitment Administrators, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Produce monthly people dashboards, using HR data and trend analysis (attrition, absence, engagement) to provide actionable insights to operational leaders.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and execute action plans that drive measurable improvements in employee experience and engagement scores.

Candidate Profile:

  • Understands how business operations connect to people decisions, with the ability to align HR outcomes with financial and operational performance.

  • Confident challenging senior stakeholders constructively, acting as a strategic partner rather than just administrative support.

  • Possesses strong, practical handling of complex ER and IR cases, balancing strict legal compliance with pragmatic business solutions.

  • Proven ability to guide managers through organizational transformation, bringing leadership teams along on the journey.

  • Focused on developing manager capability and independence, rather than simply "doing HR" for them.

  • Comfortable utilizing people analytics and dashboards to influence business decisions and measure success.

Essential Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, specifically within an HRBP or senior generalist capacity.

  • Proven experience working within a fast-paced or matrix organization.

  • Extensive experience managing complex employee relations cases and navigating trade union/industrial relations environments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change initiatives (restructures, TUPE, or transformation projects).

  • Experience directly managing and developing a small team of HR professionals.

  • Degree in HR, Business, or a related discipline, alongside a professional CIPD qualification (or equivalent).
